Tsar Roska is back!

With university, moving into a new flat and a new job there has been a distinct lack of posts and updates. HOPEFULLY this will come to a temporary end! at least for now.

First things first, Tsar Roska (tank game) is back! and built back up from scratch. The original game was simply a mess, since it was the first big project i ever worked on in unity (and C# for that matter). when it came down to it, it was going to be less of a nightmare to simply start from scratch than try to pick up where i left off.

Tsar roska is back with a new coat of paint and a larger focus on local co-op. The goal is fast-paced, juicy and (above all) fun local co-op couch based explosive action!
Most of the clutter and useless mess from the old tank game has been stripped away, to be replaced with a much more polished and to-the-point experience.

As soon as the trailer video is done I'll have this game up on Steam greenlight with the hopes of selling it at a modest $2 or so, as a fun little party game.

Await further news!

Ludum Dare game - RocketStep [complete + free!]

It's done!

RocketStep is a fast paced shooter where your weapon is speed and agility.
The only way to kill enemies is to have them kill each other!

In all honesty i'm pretty happy with how this turned out, especially the art (thanks to Dylan).
This may actually be a game that's worth expanding on with things like more enemies + a more interesting map, also sound and some proper wave and progression.

Or play it on Itch.io:

Every vote, comment or piece of feedback is greatly appreciated.

Ludum Dare - the prelouge

Somehow i've always missed the ludum dare in previous years (well actually last year I didn't know it existed, and before that I was making terrible blender games). But this year gaugepunk games (me as the programmer and Dylan (Obli) as the artist) will definitely be making a game for it!

We have a bit of an idea for a deep sea game, so if the chosen theme sways that way then we will be giving that a go. Though chances are we will end up doing something entirely different.

Lets see how this goes.

Completed game: Keas of Kings Peak (free!)

well it's done, at least for the most part.

Keas of Kings Peak (previously known as 'KeaGame') is a peculiar 3rd person game where you play as a kea (an alpine parrot native to New Zealand) in a closed-for-maintenance ski field.
Without the usual target of humans, the keas eventually formed into rival factions, each with their own fancy base and gang head-wear.

So, how does it work? well you can choose which faction you want to be a part of (the keas of the carpark, the keas of the ski slopes or the keas of the lookout) and then call upon your fellow birds in order to take over the other factions!
To strengthen your faction you must scout the ski resort to find all sorts of 'human junk' like ski gear and wallets, and steal stuff from other factions who are doing the same...
The more loot = the wealthier your faction is = the more keas will side with you!

This game was (in the end) pretty much entirely made by me, after the original artist started to loose interest, which is a shame. anyway, this game is FREE! and you can play it in-browser or for download here: http://gaugepunkgames.itch.io/keas-of-kings-peak

Now i am going to be working a little bit more on this game in the near future as it still needs a few little things. keep up to date with all the goings-on on the Gaugepunk Games twitter: https://twitter.com/gaugepunk_games

KeaGame - things and stuff

New news, I'm taking a bit more ownership of keagame now, since the artist (Dylan) will be putting more time into Mosh Pit.
The 'new' goal seems to be to get off my ass and get this game to a demo/beta state as soon as damn possible, preferably within the next 4 weeks, as I'm off to university and that's sure to slow things down.

Meanwhile, Mosh Pit is still in development, though the programming is practically complete and all that's left is art. it's going to be quite different to the original game-jam version, and will have much more content and a better weapon system. God knows when that's getting finished.

Lastly, there's always the option of finishing off Tsar Roska and getting it to a state where its perfectly playable (but with much less content than i had first planned, sadly).

It's time for dev.

KeaGame is back in development

We will come up with a proper name for it one day...

Anyway, keagame is a nice a colourful open world puzzle game where you take on the role of a new zealand Kea (a rather cheeky and destructive alpine parrot) in a ski resort. you goal is simple, to cause as much disruption and chaos to the tourists and infrastructure there as possible, and to nick some valuable items in the process.

I'll be working with Dylan on this game in the same fashion as usual (he handles art, while i handle programming).
once this game is done, we do actually intend on selling it! for cheap as chips though of course (around $2 - $4 depending on how much content we end up making).
This will actually be GaugePunk's first commercial game, so lets see how it goes!
